VID003: Menilai Hadith Bulan Ramadan - "Umatku Menginginkan Ramadan Sepanjang Tahun"

One local ustaz quoted this hadith as pesanan Rasululllah Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam during Kuliah Suboh at a local mosque yesterday. When given feedback afterwards, secluded from others, that its hadith palsu, he admitted it, but insisted that its hadith lemah and can be used for 'fadhiul amal', such as reminder for Muslims to appreciate Ramadhan.
Is there such thing as using hadith lemah for 'fadhiul amal'? Jazakallahu khairan.

The opinion of using weak ahadith for "fadhiul amal" is often ascribed to Imam an-Nawawi rahimahullah.

However, Imam an-Nawawi did provide strict guidelines on the specific types of weak hadith which are permissible. This matter is often concealed from the listeners and students.

Furthermore, Imam an-Nawawi's opinion is not shared by the majority of the muhaddith such as Imam Muslim and Imam ibn Rajab, and even contemporary muhaddith Sheikh Ahmad Shakir.

Insha Allah, we'll discuss this matter in further detail in the near future.

Wallahu a'lam

Fadhiul amal or not, the point is this hadith is weak and the ustadz knows it so the least he can do is to inform the congregation of its weakness. A preacher must fear Allah when he preaches to people; he should remind them of things that will benefit them in their spiritual and worldly affairs from verses of the Qur'ân and sahih hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). That should be sufficient!
As an ustadz, he must be trustworthy. By circulating a weak or false hadith, he is spreading a lie in the name of the prophet. (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). This lie will not end within the compound of a masjid as one will pass this so called hadith to family members and friends and before we know it, everyone is proliferating a lie in the name of the prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), with or without realising, just like the infamous hadith "Seek knowledge even if it be to China"
It was narrated in a sahih hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever narrates a hadith from me knowing that it is false, he is one of the liars.” (Narrated by Muslim in his Sahih).
And he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever narrated from me something that I did not say, let him take his place in Hell.” (Sahih agreed upon). And there are many similar hadiths
It is time someone who is in authority to take stock and take these liars to task for the good of all Muslims in this country.
